THE MERCEDES SHOW
The scene opens up inside of an empty Mercedes Show studio, the only thing visible is Mercedes’ chair and the couch her guests sit on. The scene cuts to a video collage of Jaèshon Wood, the video shows clips of his modeling, his appearances on #theLIFEATL and of course news articles and features regarding his arrest and the pending charges he has against him. The scene cuts back to the study set where Mercedes is shown.
MERCEDES: I’m sure everyone is wondering where my studio audience is at, well unfortunately with the circumstances surrounding my guest tonight there will not be any people in the audience. Even though his case is being followed in the media, he asked if he could have a private one on one interview and I’m fine with that, I respect his decision and it doesn't upset me one bit he decided to go this route.
Mercedes pauses, she takes a second to herself and takes a deep breath.
MERCEDES: I’m honored that he chose me to do this interview and I hope tonight will answer a lot of questions that’s has been on everyone’s minds. Jaèshon Wood was introduced to us and the world from appearing on the show #theLIFEATL. He came onto the show with his charming attitude and beautiful smile, but little did we know that off camera he was dealing with physical, mental, and substance abuse. No one knew what was going on In his life and when it got to the point to where he couldn’t handle it anymore. In his own words he said it was self defense but what he did after has the prosecutors and the judge wondering if it really was self defense. But all those questions and wondering if it was or wasn’t will be answered tonight, so without waiting any longer I want to bring Jaèshon out.
An instrumental to one of Mercedes songs plays through the speakers. Jaèshon makes his way out wearing a pair of long skinny jeans and a Greg cardigan sweater. He walks over to Mercedes and greets her with a hug, he turns and sits down on the couch, adjusting his pants leg revealing his house arrest bracelet oh his right ankle.
MERCEDES: Wow, this is real huh? Ankle bracelet and all.
Jaèshon nods.
MERCEDES: So part of your bail condition requires you to be on house arrest until your actual trial date, from my understanding you had to deal with a lot just to even come here.
JAÈSHON WOOD: At first the judge denied my request, but somehow my lawyer was able to work out a deal, so here I am.
MERCEDES: I want you to know anything you don’t want talk about just let me know, I want you to feel comfortable.
JAÈSHON WOOD: I know your intentions are good, ask away.
MERCEDES: What can you tell us? Can you explain your charges and where your at right now?
JAÈSHON WOOD: I can’t really talk about to much because the case is still ongoing, but the charges are basically murder amongst other things.
MERCEDES: I hate that your even going through this, but abuse is real, whether it’s two men, two women or a man and a woman it’s still wrong.
JAÈSHON WOOD: I had been dealing with abuse from this man for years, I met him at such a young age and let me tell you the manipulation is real out in these streets.
MERCEDES: Can you go into detail how you met him and how the relationship started?
JAÈSHON WOOD: I was still in highschool and he had just graduated, he may have been out of school for at least a year but I was still a sophomore. He was just at the school one day doing some sort of volunteer work, he saw me and we just started talking and from there it gradually turned into something serious.
MERCEDES: At that time was it forced?
JAÈSHON WOOD: I was young, he was giving me gifts, money, taking me places so I wouldn’t say it was forced because I was into it.
MERCEDES: Were you two having sex at the time?
Jaèshon takes a long pause.
MERCEDES: Take your time sweetie.
JAÈSHON WOOD: He always pressured sex but it wasn’t until after a month of hanging out. Once it happened it was like I became his sex slave, he wanted it everywhere, everyday, at anytime.
MERCEDES: Thats sick and at this point you were still in highschool.
JAÈSHON WOOD: I was, but the sex didn’t happen until my Junior year. I remember him picking me up and taking me to one of his suites, he had other people in there but they didn’t care.
MERCEDES: Wow.
JAÈSHON WOOD: But I mean I didn’t really think it was a problem at first, he was a man so I just assumed his sexual needs needed to be met so I just went with it.
MERCEDES: So you said other people would sometimes be there, were they aware that he was messing with an underage child?
JAÈSHON WOOD: I don’t think they did, most of the stuff we did was in private and I know he would tell people I was his protege or family. I just figured because of the lifestyle he was involved in, i just assumed he didn’t want people in his business.
MERCEDES: When did you realize you needed to get away?
JAÈSHON WOOD: I mean it just got way to weird with me, the constant sex and then he became really controlling. I mean to the point where I couldn’t leave the house or be around my family.
MERCEDES: Because you were so young he probably felt like he could have that control over you.
JAÈSHON WOOD: He knew could control me, he was one of the reasons why I started having issues with my family.
MERCEDES: But you were able to get away from him, right?
JAÈSHON WOOD: Once I graduated high school and gained a little more independence I kind of snuck my way out of his life, I got more involved with other stuff and he didn’t like it.
MERCEDES: He probably was afraid of losing you or you possibly telling someone what he was doing to you.
JAÈSHON WOOD: He knew I wouldn’t snitch, Plus when your life is constantly in danger then a thought like that wouldn’t cross your mind.
MERCEDES: So He was out here threatening you too?
JAÈSHON WOOD: I mean it was an everyday thing, there wasn’t a day I couldn’t be with him without him threatening my life some sort of way.
Mercedes shakes her head.
MERCEDES: A grown man doing all of this and to a child, it saddens me.
Jaèshon shrugs.
MERCEDES: I’m just happy that you won’t have to deal with that monster again.
JAÈSHON WOOD: I am too.
MERCEDES: When does the trial start?
JAÈSHON WOOD: Honestly I do not know, which is why I can’t discuss to much about this case, things have changed so much that it’s forcing court dates and other important dates to change.
MERCEDES: Can we speak on Blair and his involvement?
Jaèshon sighs, thinking about his brother and his whereabouts, he looks up at Mercedes.
JAÈSHON WOOD: I hope and pray that my brother is okay.
MERCEDES: You still haven’t talked to him? Do you think that the rumors about him not being alive is true?
JAÈSHON WOOD: The rumors I’ve been hearing are absurd and no one should take the bullshit serious, a lot of these people and these stories are fake news. I’m sure Blair is alive and well but where he is, I do not know.
MERCEDES: This season of #theLIFEATL we didn’t see a lot of you around, it made me think you weren’t on the show as a main cast member but maybe was demoted to a friend of the show.
JAÈSHON WOOD: After season two the plan was for me to return as main cast but then all that stuff happened so it kind of changed those plans. Once these charges appeared I got a call from production telling me they were interested in filming what was going on with me but because of how serious the legal issue it was, they couldn’t really do much with it or me, I was on heavy restrictions.
MERCEDES: Wow, we have to take a short break but when we come back we will finish talking with Jaèshon.
The scene cuts to a commercial break.
MERCEDES: Welcome back, we are here with Jaèshon Wood, so I want to jump back into the show, how did you even get on the show?
JAÈSHON WOOD: One day the show was filming at one of the bars I use to work at, production was there and for some reason they gravitated towards me and fell in love with my personality, not to toot my own horn but I do make good tv but I’m a good look. I had just moved to Atlanta and they were looking for some fresh meat, well that’s what one of the producers told me.
MERCEDES: So you joined the show not knowing anyone?
JAÈSHON WOOD: That is true, I ran into Giovanni a few times at some modeling gigs but other then that I didn’t know anyone.
MERCEDES: How are you and the cast getting along these days and has anyone reached out to you from the show?
JAÈSHON WOOD: Not really but I never expected anyone to, a lot of them I don’t talk to or hang with so it wasn’t something that needed to happen. I have the support of my family and my close friends.
MERCEDES: What about Hadi? It seems like you guys were on the right path of bringing your family together.
JAÈSHON WOOD: Hadi and I were actually in a good place, we didn’t talk everyday but there was no bad blood. I understand he has a life before I popped up so I never expected for him to switch his whole life around for me.
MERCEDES: But in this type of situation you could probably use all the support you can get.
JAÈSHON WOOD: Which is true but I got myself in this mess and I can’t expect for someone else to get me out. He offered to pay my bail which was nice enough.
MERCEDES: So he did handle the nail at least?
JAÈSHON WOOD: Oh no, I only said he offered. I didn’t say he paid it!
Jaèshon chuckles.
MERCEDES: My question is do you want to have a relationship with Hadi?
JAÈSHON WOOD: At one point in my life I wanted us to be a big happy family but then reality hit and I just knew that wouldn’t happen. I’m fine with how things are, I have more important things going on then that.
MERCEDES: What do you hope the outcome of this whole situation will be?
JAÈSHON WOOD: I just want it to be over that’s all, my reaction was based off self defense and I stand by that story.
MERCEDES: I believe you, I just hate to see you have to go through all of this when all you were doing was protecting yourself.
JAÈSHON WOOD: I feel the same way, but the prosecutors and everyone else has a job to do so I can’t be mad.
MERCEDES: After this blows over, what’s next for guy?
JAÈSHON WOOD: I’m hoping to pursue acting and hopefully restart and rebrand my modeling career, after this is over I just want a fresh start.
MERCEDES: You have to stay positive throughout this whole thing, I’m sure once it’s all over you’ll bounce back like nothing and just know if there’s anything I can do, I will.
Jaèshon smiles.
JAÈSHON WOOD: Thank you.
MERCEDES: Jaèshon I really appreciate you stopping by and talking with me and just know you are in my prayers and I wish you nothing but the best.
Mercedes smiles at Jaèshon, she gets up out of her chair and hugs Jaèshon, she turns and looks at the camera.
MERCEDES: And we’ll be back.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
MERCEDES: And we’re back, it feels strange not having a studio audience but like I said earlier I wanted to make sure Jaèshon was comfortable and plus with all the security and police officers running around, I just didn’t want any issues.
